Mediclinic Auxiliary Nursing Higher Certificate  PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

This is a one year programme leading to registration as a auxiliary nurse

REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 with admission to higher certificate or equivalent with an average of 50%
and in the case of a National Vocational Certificate an average of 55% is required.
National senior certificate
• Life or physical science subject – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 40%
• Mathematics– NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 40% or
• Mathematics Literacy – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
• English communication Skills – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 40%
• Computer Literacy – NQF Level 3 with a minimum of 40%
National vocational certificate
• Life or physical science subject – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
• Mathematics– NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50% or
• Mathematics Literacy – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 60%
• English communication Skills – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
• Computer Literacy – NQF Level 3 with a minimum of 40%
Additional Information

Recognition of prior learning based on criterion referenced assessment students with
health care related experience, if applicable

Applicants will also undergo psychometric testing, an interview and health assessment as part of the selection process.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

This programme leads to registration in the category Auxiliary Nurse (GN R.169 of 8 March 2013). The Registered Auxiliary Nurse with the qualification Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing will have the necessary knowledge and skills to function in a wide variety of healthcare settings, provide basic care to patients and provide a supportive function to general nurses, professional nurses and other healthcare professionals.

All applicants will be considered, with the understanding that preference will be given in accordance with the Employment Equity Plan of Mediclinic Southern Africa, as well as internal applicants/employees that meet the minimum requirements.

Nursing Programme January 2022: Apply for the Mediclinic 2022 Higher Certificate in Nursing. Graduates will be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Auxiliary Nurse on passing the SANC registration examination.

The Higher Certificate in Nursing is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training and accredited by the South African Nursing Council. Mediclinic (Pty) Ltd is registered as a Private Higher Education Institution under the Higher Education Act 1997 until 31 December 2023.
