Mediclinic Southern Africa is a subsidiary of Mediclinic International PLC, the international private healthcare group. Mediclinic is a private hospital group that operates in South Africa and Namibia.
Mediclinic has a total of 49 private hospitals operating throughout South Africa.
ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP
Mediclinic offers 2 types of leadership programs in the medical field:
- Enrolled Nurse
- Operating Department Assistance
These courses run over 2 years, allowing students to gain the knowledge and expertise to work in the medical sector. Once students have completed the program, they will be able to register with SANC.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and required to attend an interview, do a psychometric test and do a health evaluation. Mediclinic will request a small non-refundable registration fee.
Students will be required to purchase learning materials, as well as pay for their transport, meals and accommodation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates interested in applying for this learnership position should ensure that they meet the following criteria – failure to meet ALL of these requirements will result in your application being denied.
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric
- Passed Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy with a minimum of 40% in Matric
- Passed English Literacy Skills with a minimum of 40% in Matric
- Good command of the English language (able to read, write and speak English)
- NOT currently registered to study at SANC or SA Nursing Council
- In good medical health

MediClinic Learnerships Available?
MediClinic has many career options available. Currently, MediClinic is offering two learnerships in the medical field. One learnership course is for Operating Department Assistance. The second course is a nursing learnership. The Mediclinic nursing learnerships program will offer professional training in nursing to attain a certificate of an enrolled nurse. Both courses run over two years. All selected participants will gain superior education and expert training to excel within the fast-paced medical field. The individuals who complete the mediclinic nursing learnership will also be qualified to register with the South African Nursing Council better known as SANC.
Before applying for MediClinic learnerships, please make sure you meet all the requirements. Applicants may register at any time of the year. Once the enrollment period is open, the applicants can then submit their application.
Interested Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen (RSA)
- Must have completed Grade 12 and have a Matric certification or higher
- Must have passed Mathematics with a literacy level of 4 (NQF) with 40% or higher
- Must have passed English Literacy Skills with a level of 4 (NQF) with 40% or higher
- Can NOT be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Pay the non-refundable registration fee
- Have copy of the curriculum vitae to include with the application
- Have a certified copy of their valid ID document
Once the individual has applied, if selected to participate, they must have a health evaluation and psychometric test completed before moving forward. The individual will then have to participate in an interview before the final selections are made. If the individual has officially been selected, it is mandatory to sign a contract with MediClnic before beginning their medical learnership.
MediClinic Learnership Contract
Upon successful admission into the nursing learnership or other learnership programs, the fortunate individuals will be required to sign a contract. The contract states that the graduate will work back for Mediclinic hospitals double the length of time it took to complete the learnership program.
If the individual can not complete the program then he or she will be eligible to pay all costs of the program and administrative costs.

When is the MediClinic Learnership Application Due?
Interested candidates are able to register on the official Mediclinic website any time of the year. When applying, the individual’s application must be completed and turned in by July 31. It is due at the same time every year. The course is open at the beginning of May.
Once the interested applicant is accepted, all courses begin at the beginning of the following year.
Required Fees and Funding
The lucky participants who are accepted will be employed by Mediclinic. Mediclinic will fund the learnership program for these employees. Yet, the learnership participants will be required to pay for their books and any other academic necessities. Also, Mediclinic will not pay for the individual’s food, transportation, or housing.
