Home Affairs Learnerships

 

The Department of Home Affairs Learnerships are part of the Governments’ National Skills Development Strategy Act. This includes the growth of high-value opportunities, employment growth, and skills development in all sectors, social development along with assisting the youth to become part of the labor force in South Africa.

Successful candidates will have great access to mentors and trainers, exploring the wealth of information made available, growing, and becoming professionals in various fields. This department makes learnerships available in all provinces throughout South Africa, offering equal opportunities to all the youth. The learnerships will vary in duration and only include a monthly stipend for successful candidates.

They seek talented, young candidates who are interested to fill the scarce skills within South Africa. Candidates will be able to build up their knowledge, gain invaluable experience and learn from the best. Some successful candidates may be offered a permanent position, however, this is not a guarantee.

Requirements

Candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae with contact details, contactable references as well as any information they feel may be pertinent to their application.? Please also include certified copies of all relevant certificates, ID, and proof of address no older than three months.? Candidates must be permanent South African residents and citizens. Those with a disability are also welcome to apply.

Most candidates will also be required to have the following:

  • Matric or Grade 12
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Proficient in English, read, write and speak
  • Proficient in one other National Language
  • Computer literate
  • Candidates must not have a permanent employment
  • Be self-motivated and a team player
  • Must be able to work under pressure and be a great listener
  • Candidates must not be registered with any other institute for a learnership
  • Must be innovative, ethical, honest and professional
  • Flexibility with a commitment to learn, but moreover willingness to work

Application

Online Application is made available during the year. Candidates may be required to complete an online assessment, (this will take approximately 30 minutes) before starting the application process. There are some learnerships offered where the application forms can only be collected by an office of the department. Candidates can inquire at their campus careers center for open learnerships within the department, or at the department office closest to their home.

Most applications require a Z83 application form and it must be handed in with all required certified documentation. Candidates can download the form from their website. Please ensure the application is signed and completed in full. Incomplete forms, or forms missing attachments, will not even be considered. Faxed or e-mailed application will also be rejected, if forms have been collected at the office of the department within your area, it must be returned there. However, if you apply online you do not need to go to the office in your area.

Successful candidates will be informed within 3 weeks to 3 months after the closing date of the learnership. If you do not receive any form of communication, please deem your application as unsuccessful.
